What is The Experiment For Biogenic Living and The Laboratory For A-R-T?

The Laboratory For A-R-T is an ongoing workshop for Artists,  Regenerative Therapists and  Teachers, and anyone interested in returning back in touch with unity within oneself, and with all the surrounding forces of nature. The spontaneous flow of artistic expression is always the natural and automatic result of returning to our original unity with nature. By nature we are all natural born artists, healers and teachers. It is our unavoidable birth-right, except we have merely lost sight of this.

This concept for The Laboratory for A-R-T is both new, and at the same time very, very, old.  It is old, because it is apart of our most ancient, collective “School of Life.”   And becomes new, every time we remember and re-awaken to this, all over again!  It is always a remembering when we return back to Nature, to our true selves, to the true nature of oneself.  Unfortunately, for the human creature, it is so easy to fall asleep and forget who we actually are and from where we have come, our origin, our Source in Nature.  This, then, becomes the tireless job of the School of A-R-T: to constantly help remind us of our most ancient and forgotten heritage.  Rancho EcoTopia welcomes you back Home once again!!

How does The Laboratory For A-R-T operate?

The Laboratory For A-R-T is designed to take care of the specific and individual needs of the truth seeker, by offering  The Apprenticeship with Nature Program. ”  This very individualized Program is entirely based upon the comprehensive  Science of Biogenic Living,  and is geared to each student by allowing them complete flexibility to design there own daily schedule of activities appropriate to their own particular natural rhythm.  This personalized Program concentrates on individualistic study, group study, as well as direct contact with nature through hands-on activities, such as Biodynamic Gardening, Biogenic Indoor-Gardening, work in the Orchards, natural food preparation in the Kitchen, as well as on going classes in Natural Healing, Artistic Creativity, and Movement Meditation.  A new Art Studio/Gallery is currently in process of construction, as well as more rooms to accommodate guests.  Hiking, Swimming, Volley Ball, Yoga, Chi Gong and other physical fitness related activities are also available. All of this is just a taste of what comprises the comprehensive Science of Biogenic Living.

What is Biogenics and The Experiment in Biogenic Living?

“Biogenics”  is  an  all-sided,  balanced,  holistic  way of life and is the  birth-child of 20th Century  Cosmotherapy:  “The  Medicine  of The  Future.”  The Science of Biogenic Living  is the result of the life-long, tireless work of Professor Edmond Bordeaux Szekely, who, along with Romain Rolland,* in 1928 established the  Societe Biogenique Internationale,  or  “International  Biogenic  Society” for:

” mobilizing all the forces of Life against the forces of death.”

Biogenics is The Science of  Life, and relates directly to the most vital Science of all the Sciences:  “The Science of Man”–that one least understood, yet most important of all of them. The Experiment for Biogenic living is a continuance of the New Light that both Cosmotherapy and Biogenic Living ushered in in the 20th Century for our New World. Light years ahead of its time, “The Great Experiment” of Prof. Szekely still continues with many unique and different personal variations, in innumerable isolated pockets of the New World arising, and is truly the Living Spiritual Child of the monumental, all-sided, comprehensive work of Professor Szekely, 1905-1979.**  Only those that follow suite will survive. . . . . “Instead of fighting evil, we must concentrate all our efforts upon straightening the good in all.” –Prof. Szekely

     Who runs this Experimental Laboratory?

First, Rancho EcoTopia is not a Holiday/Vacation Getaway, but rather a small, home-style, family-run, private Ranch-Retreat and ongoing workshop designed for individualized study, in an artistic and meditative atmosphere, surrounded by the inspirational beauty of all the forces of Nature.  Simply put, “The Experiment for Biogenic Living,”  along with “The Laboratory for A-R-T,”  are living examples of the  “Small is Beautiful”  philosophy, where simplicity of life reigns and is the overriding theme of this Eco-Ranch. Many years of dedication have gone into the creation and realization of this Ranch and its ideal.

Finally, through our long term of affiliation with the I.B.S. – The International Biogenic Society (no longer extant), we offer Biogenic Certification through initiation to all-sided, omnilateral, natural living. Through in depth studies and practices one can also become an active Teacher of Biogenic Living, by attaining ones highest potential through extension and prolongation of ones life by practicing what you preach. The Master may be gone, but the heritage of his living light continues to be passed on to all his most faithful students. It is our mission is to serve, and in this we serve our mission . . . . .

How long do Internships typically last?

Internships vary from many weeks, to many months.  Work-Exchange programs are always available. Those interested in the Internship, but not the full “Work-Exchange Program,” should inquire about other arrangements.  Day, as well as over-night visits to the Ranch need to be prearranged.

     How to contact Rancho EcoTopia.

This Work-Study Program requires minimal experience, and that you send a complete description of yourself by submitting a brief background resume describing your interests, goals, intensions, as well as work and life experiences.  You will then be shortly notified.  References do wonders. (Before sending your resume, it is strongly suggested to review the link to the short video mentioned below.)**

*From the Preface to “La Via Biogenique,” 1928–by Romain Rolland

“Let us leave on one side all that divides us, all our shades of thought — political, social, religious, philosophical!  We are not concerned to work out a single doctrine to be laid before the world for approval.  Every  doctrine — be  it  scientific  or  religious — is  subject  to  discussion.  In  its  anxiety  to  bring  about  a  unity  of  minds,  doctrine  destroys  what  it  seeks  to  establish.

“We are concerned, at this present hour, to build, over the whole world, a single font against war, violence, egotism, ignorance. Let us ordain resistance, opposition, refusal — an unqualified ‘No!’ — to war.

“And, if we need a central principle on which to rest our action, let that suffice which consists in solidarity and mutual aid,  shall  I  say,  in  communion  between  all  living  beings.  Let  us  unite  all the  spiritual  forces of  Life  against  the  forces  of  death.”

PROFESSOR   EDMOND  BORDEAUX  SZEKELY

(from  “The Greatness In The Smallness” –pub. 1978 by the I.B.S. concerning
Omnilateral Optimologythe all-sided realization of the best ways of living,” was the dominant theme of this classic work, and started an international movement in the English-speaking countries. Also, this work was based upon Prof. Szekely’s remarkable discoveries and results of his archeological research and ethnological expeditions conducted half-a-century earlier, which are luckily preserved and throughly documented in his other monumental works–see Lending Library Collection)

                                                                                         .

From the beginning of the Twentieth Century, a slow, gradual, and quasi-imperceptible process began to evolve, creating a greater and greater impact, in fact, the greatest in history, on the life of Western man.  Everything connected with our daily lives is becoming more and more complex, more and more differentiated and more and more complicated, affecting our physical, mental, social, and economical environments. By the inexorable and inevitable trend of the progress of technical civilization, Western man has created such enormous complexities of life that his nervous system has started to disintegrate under the weight and stress of these complexities. The omnipresence of stress is a specific twentieth century phenomenon. If we analyze the origins of this stress with its concomitants of nervous tension, insecurity, and general inability to cope with problems, we will find the following factors: greater and greater complexities in time, in place, in human activities, in the speed of these activities, in the mental activities, in the emotional activities, and in the bodily degenerative processes.

For instance, in previous civilizations, people usually lived in the same area their whole lives, without the necessity of constant travel in the performance of their daily functions. In previous civilizations, the activities of people were few and simple and did not extend to a great number of diversified activities and problems, in contrast to Western man, whose daily timetable is parceled into countless heterogeneous fractions of activities. In previous civilizations, the speed of all these activities in time and space was quite, slow, and not so exacting. In previous civilizations, mental functions of man were also very simple and concerned only the few basic necessities and aspirations of life, without the need of continuous calculations, preoccupations, decisions, and solutions of innumerable problems. In previous civilizations, the emotional life of man was rather uncomplicated, contrasting severely with the great number of increased emotional reactions of a more and more complex society and human environment of today.  Finally, the last important factor in the origins of stress, the bodily degenerative processes, are accelerated by a sedentary way of living, punctuated by abnormal spurts of the wrong kind of exercise, and aggravated by a continuous source of synthetics from the air we breath and the foods we eat.

It seems that stress, with its concomitant factors of nerves tension and insecurity, has become the greatest problem facing Western civilization in the middle of the twentieth century. We are not concerned with the minority that need professional treatment, nor with the other minority of those who enjoy perfect mental health, but with the vast majority who, in between the two minority groups, are not so mentally ill as to need professional care, nor yet are completely healthy mentally. I speak of the great majority under continuous or periodical stress, with nervous tension and feelings of insecurity. This majority does not yet need professional help, only a simple, preventive program which they could practice themselves.

It is evident that we cannot turn back the clock, nor the trend of progress, evolution and history. We cannot go back to the natural simplicity of life in previous civilizations, and we cannot eliminate the continuously increasing complexities imposed by the inexorable forces of constant expansion of human knowledge and expansion. No unrealistic, Utopian approach can give us the solution to the problem of stress. The only realistic approach which remains for us is to realize the origins of stress, which are inseparably and inevitably connected with our twentieth century Western civilization . We must realize and accept the fact that stress is as inevitable as the factors which are causing it. But if we cannot eliminate stress completely, at least we can alleviate it and decrease it by excluding the stress-causing factors of our century, from time to time, trying to escape from them periodically and returning now and then to the non-stress-forming practices of previous civilizations. It is possible, even in the twentieth century, to reconstruct and enact all the beautiful practices of ancient civilizations, achieving for us at least a temporary immunity to the stress causing factors of our hectic lives. And there is tremendous psychosomatic value in recharging our batteries from the great sources of harmony and knowledge of previous ages. We want to emphasize that while it is a mistake not to ‘live’ in the twentieth century, it is an even greater mistake to live ‘only’ in the twentieth century.

Every so often, we should try to take a mental vacation from the twentieth century, a respite which may eventually become a means of liberation from all stress-causing factors. From time to time we should should exclude the multiple stimuli of our stressful environment: the visual ones, such as television, billboards, headlines, neon signs; and the acoustic ones, such as television, telephones, radios, inter-coms, traffic, machines, all the sounds of daily turmoil which constantly fill our minds with haphazard and irrelevant contents. Through this periodic holiday from the present, we will free ourselves from the continuous slavery of permanent external stimuli, and finally become masters of our own minds–in one word, we become ourselves. We regain our own personality, which, in the words Goethe, is the greatest gift of the gods to humans. Only when the ephemeral noise of the Grand Central Station around us is transcended can we accomplish this ultimate freedom of mind.

And once we have successfully created a vacuum in our minds, we will be able to fill them with contents of our choosing, according to our inner dispositions. We can utilize all the finest thoughts, feelings and practices of ancient civilizations, through the senses of sight, hearing, smell and touch of muscle and nerve, to contact and utilize all the great sources of energy and harmony and knowledge of eight thousand years of wisdom and tradition. We can recharge our batteries in many different ways in order to counteract the multiple stress of twentieth century living. Through the eyes, we can view the wonderful panorama of nature, with its primal feelings of peace and beauty. Through the hears we can contact the wonderful sounds of the symphony of nature. We can smell the fragrance of flowers and grass, and breath deeply of the pure air in the mountains or at the ocean. Through our skin we can touch the wind, the sun, the rain and the grass. We can still go to Nature–she is still not too far away, and we never destroy her completely. She will always be there waiting for us when we, her prodigal children, at last return to her.

Let us, along with Shakespeare, find “tongues in trees and books in the running brooks,  sermons in stones, and good in everything.”

  1. Having been to the Ranch many times, there is something that brings me back again and again. I guess it’s because it brings me back to my “center,” and that is what makes me feel I have truely come back home! We all need to return to the “true values” now and then, if we are to remain sane. 3. Rancho EcoTopia is a great example of an alternative to the common modern lifestyle. It opened my eyes to many new possibilities that I never knew existed! Living close to the land, growing the food you eat, working outside in the sunshine . . . . . time spent there was truly healing! I don’t think I will ever be the same, having lived at such a wonderful place! –Brenden Tull “danny-boy”

  4. RANCHO ECOTOPIA:
A Life Changing Experience for the Mind, Body and Soul!
    Written By: Megan Lior
    October, 2018

Recently, my two daughters, Anya, Esme and I were invited to visit Rancho Ecotopia and experience some of the magic and wonder that White Rabbit and his family have to share on their Biogenic Farm/Homestead. We believe deeply in alternative lifestyles and communities – so I was searching for different ideas and experiences that we might discover to assist us in our transformational process. I came across the website of Rancho Ecotopia and found myself Diving In! From the descriptions of the potential Biogenic Living Internships, to the ideas of just visiting to see and learn and offer an exchange, to the extremely thought provoking video of Prof. Edmund Szekely… my heart burst open! In following my inner-guidance, I pursued the chance for my daughters and I to come for an “exploration visit” of this unique community that is still growing and forming.

Our stay also included the opportunity to speak with White Rabbit about Life and the principles and practices of Biogenic Living as a family. I know that my “studies” have only just begun. White Rabbit also made an incredibly valuable life imprint on my daughters as he enveloped them into walking with him while teaching about the plants and rocks; giving them art projects and a swimming hole to enjoy – taking them to feed the animals, teaching them how to make the most delicious Raw Cookies they have ever had, teaching them about sprouts and showing them how simple and fun it is to grow them. White Rabbit has an unbelievable openhearted desire to share the sense of wonder and awe that is found in the natural life and in the principles and practices of Biogenics. His Internships of a few weeks, to even several months, are of untold benefit; they can be life changing.

My husband and I are waiting for our first Edmund Szekely books to arrive so we can continue our “eye-opening” studies of Biogenic Living, discussing ways we might be able to volunteer in the future at Rancho Ecotopia in ways that would “give back” a fraction of what we feel we have gained from this opportunity. This truly has been a Life Changing Experience for Mind, Body and Soul! Our family’s gratitude flows like a river. Thank you Rancho Ecotopia!
